A convenient crag only a short distance from Canazei and by the side of the road. Both sectors are volcanic conglomerate and provide and very different medium to the surrounding Dolerite.
From Canazei head towards the Fedaia pass. After the village of Alba you will enter Penia village. The crag is immediately after the bridge and visible from the road.
Large sections of the crag appear to have fallen down since the pictures in The Dolomites: Rock Climbs and Via Ferrata (2014) were taken. These include a large block from Cavolo 6a, part of Aladin 6a, although it appears that the line has been rebolted since this, and maybe some of Fessura 6a but this still appeared climbable.
Agree with the above but great tockand excellent climbing nonetheless. Perfect for when it’s too cold/wet/windy up high. Plus there’s sooo much friction off this rock compared to the polished mountain dolerite. badgerjockey - 24/Sep/18 |
