Along with Hen, a short approach (10-15 mins) makes Pigeon one of the most popular of the Mourne crags.
Masses of vegetation cover much of the crag but cleaning in some areas has freed a number of very good routes. The left-hand buttress is less frequented but has some decent multi-pitch routes, while the right-hand buttress offers mostly single pitches to in-situ abseil points. Class Distinction is one of the best Severes in the Mournes, while Phantoms is an excellent E1. The shale tower high above the right-hand buttress is known as Pog Precipice.
