This is a small provincial park on the East side of Howe Sound. 25km north of Horseshoe Bay.
There are three sport crags and a bouldering venue in this area.
'First Contact' and 'Watchtower' crags have a short approach, whereas 'The Lumberjack Wall' and 'Short Stories Boulders' require a longer walk in.
Approach to 'First Contact' and 'Watchtower': From Horseshoe Bay, follow the Sea to Sky Highway north for 23km, look for sign "Porteau Road 600m". Park immediately at a tiny gravel pullout alongside the highway. If approaching from Squamish, the Porteau Road exit of your best option.
From the gravel pullout, wall 25m south past a sign for "Bertram Creek" to the end of a concrete median and then follow a vague but flagged trail leading left up a grassy ramp to a clear-cut under power lines. The trail forks here. For 'First Contact' follow the flagging to the left and for 'Watchtower' go right traversing fallen logs through the slash. There is also a short connector trail from 'First Contact' to 'Watchtower' (10 mins).
Approach to 'Lumberjack Wall' / 'Short Stories Boulders': Take the Porteau Road exit and park in large lot on uphill side of highway. Walk up the gravel road past a gate, immediately turn right and follow winding fire access road uphill for approx 1.5km passing a bridge, a rugged stoney hill and a a spur that leads left to "Kallhanie Creek". After passing small grassy pullout on right, start watching for vague path in forest on left. This leads uphill trough the trees for several minutes to 'The Lumberjack Wall' (30mins from parking). For 'Short Stories', continue up main road. First trail is on left 150m past pullout, and second is 25m further along, just before the road bends rightwards.
