βeta: I think the routes on the Dionysiac Slab are where Pukerua Bay's reputation for loose rock originated. There were rockfalls from every line. On Shiver Me Timbers, I watched my friend dislodge about 30kg of rubble from the wall on the right, some of which landed on her foot. Her belayer was standing out of the fall line and was fine. If you decide to climb this, I'd recommend checking if holds are loose before pulling on them, sticking to the slab on the left as much as possible and making sure the belayer is wearing a helmet and in a sensible spot. | βeta? | |
