Topping out the Crack’n © Timg

Crag features

Rolling hills with lots of hidden granite blocks. Rock quality is generally excellent and the landings are largely good with some exceptions in the Crack University sector.
There are plenty of sheep around and the terrain can make them hard to spot so keep any dogs under close control.

Approach notes

Parking co-ordinates:

///cheeses.barmaid.expensive
56.382479, -3.978046

Parking is on a gravel road, at the co-ordinates above is a large lay-by to park in. Whilst there is space to park higher up the road this is best avoided since it's used as a turning space for forestry trucks.

Approach:

From the parking walk up the road until you cross a cattle grid. About 100m after the grid you cross a stream to walk steeply up a grass path. Following this path takes you through a dry stone wall and from this position the Comrie Outlook area is visible directly ahead of you in the distance (providing there's no bracken)
There's then a variety of tracks that get you close to the sectors, the pins on the ukc map are pretty accurate.

From the parking it's around a 20 - 40 minute approach depending on the sector and your fitness!

Great little crag, good quality rock and problems that require proper jamming! Walk in isn't too far if you use the parking up the road towards the gun club (but before it becomes a private road). Scrubbed a couple of new boulders on the crack school wall plus a few on the jumble of the rocks just south of it. Plenty more potential lines on this outcrop.
