Up to about 50m high. A very popular crag, mainly due to its easy access though many of the routes are of great quality. Brown Slab Routes(D-VS), Finale(HVS), Aaros(E1), Ardus(MVS), Adam and Eve(VS), Kransic Crack(HVS), Fishers Folly(VS), Grasp(E1), Bludgeon(E1), Little Chamonix(VD), Derision Groove(MVS).
Five to ten minute approach.
Paths lead from the roadside to the base of the routes. There is no through route from Lodor falls around the back of the hotel.
The BMC Access Fund and Patagonia equipment funded footpath stabilisation work at the crag in early 2000.
16 October 2020 - The parking for Shepherds Crag at Lodore Farm is closed. Please look to park elsewhere: Kettlewell or Bowderstone car parks , bus from Keswick or cycle. We need to respectful of the owner’s decision. The Lakes area access reps are hoping to meet with the owner soon.
03 January 2023 - Rockfall reported "I was walking below shepherds crag on Jan 1st, and found what appears to be a very recent rockfall.
I don't know the crag, so can't tell you what route it was near, but walking from the south of the crag it was just before the path starts to drop steeply near the north end.
It was dusk, so I couldn't see where the rock had fallen from (low down, or higher up), but it seemed to have a smashed tree associated with the debris. Main block was probably 2m x 1.5m x 1.5m approx. No idea if routes are affected at all, but I suspect that the area needs to be inspected by someone competent in the area of safety/stability of rock."
Update to follow once area has been investigated.
Descent from Brown Slabs area has the potential for nasty accidents with some very green greasy holdless slabs above steep ground. To avoid these, after about 15 metres go rightwards over the rocky rib to reach a much more amenable descent. If you have novice climbers with you, take note. Rog Wilko - 14/Jun/17 |

I am currently trying to tidy the fixed gear near the top of Little Chamonix, please either assist in removing this or leave it as you find it. Please refrain from pushing the cams deeper into the crack as this will only make them harder to remove. Thanks. Duncan sparkass - 18/Aug/16 |

Great crag for it accessibility. Grade range for all climbers. Harder routes not so polished, and definitely not over rated. ben_armstrong - 10/Aug/15 |

Have had two ticks after a visit 26/06/10. Remember to check your skin carefully. Otherwise a great crag made even better by the nearby cafe! Steve Palmer - 29/Jun/10 |
