Access Banned

As described in the 2010 CC guide, climbing at Symonds Yat is only permitted on the north-west facing cliffs - from The Introductory Rocks to the Final Zone inclusive.

Seasonal Restrictions

Dates: 1 March to 30 June

Reason: Nesting Birds

Peregrine falcons have established a nest since 2019 on Strathdon, in the White Wall.  Climbers should therefore avoid all routes from Motorway Madness to Night Nurse, inclusive, during the restricted period.

20m. A slab route? Start at the lowest part of the narrow terrace path several metres to the right of Tolk. Climb up the mossy wall passing left of the sapling at 3 metres. Pull onto the grubby ledge at the right hand end of the small cave. Place protection, then climb the bold and sustained technical slab (between the cracks of Threshold of Insanity and Straight- Jacket) through a steepening and continue until the difficulties ease and the top is reached. Belay off a sturdy Yew root just below the top and enjoy the magnificent views in peace (away from the inane comments from the tourists above).
