Classic local problem on pristine granite © pebblespanker
A bouldering area located close to Dublin. It is a narrow steep sided valley between Enniskerry and Kilternan. It has a variety of problems from 3+ to 8A. These are located either side of the Enniskerry/Dublin Road that cuts through the valley.
The area is well sheltered by tree's and its steep slopes, which means that some problems stay dry in light rain. Midges can be an issue, but are mainly found on the west side of the valley.
Parking is limited close to a narrow slip beside a gate, maybe 2 cars will fit. The local farmer does not take kindly to the gate being blocked. Further up the road (Dublin side) is a garage/small shop where you might be able to park and walk from. A larger car park is located at Barnasligan Forest on the other side of the hill.
The 44 goes from the city center, through Dundrum and passes through the Scalp. Get off at the garage by the Kilternan ski slope.
Some drivers have been clamped and/or ticketed for blocking the gate at the usual parking spot. Consider parking elsewhere, especially at busy periods.
Lovely little venue, problems spread out but well worth finding. Be carreful when walking up and down or across the busy little road pebblespanker - 30/Jul/13 |
