Crag features

Very quick drying wee wall with 4 good problems, very well hidden on the slope north of Loch Meig.

Approach notes

A bit involved as the wall is so well hidden, but actually quite simple. Park considerately in one of the laybys just north of the Curin Dam at the east end of Loch Meig and go over the stile on the north side of the road at NH 3758 5611.  Follow a faint old forest track north east up the slope.  The track doesn’t get much use and is revegetating but is fairly easy to follow.  As it climbs it bends left round the back of a rocky knoll then flattens out until a junction with another old track (rock cairn on the right).  Take the right fork uphill for another 50m to the next junction then the left fork which flattens out (unlike the right fork which continues to climb to the Scatwell Wave).  After c.100m the old track turns into a much rougher trail once used by forestry machinery, but keep following the obvious line for c.300m until it drops downhill slightly.  At this point another old forestry track branches off uphill to the right and an old birch tree can be seen fallen across the path straight ahead.  Step over the fallen tree, cross about 10m of waterlogged ground and head diagonally uphill through the pines. The uphill edge of these pines is another old forestry track, turn left on this and The Shelter is ahead on the right (north) side after 25m. If you find it you deserve a medal.
