(The Funnel) Trakta, also called Litlkorsnestinden, is said to be one of Norway's most difficult summits, if not the most difficult. There are actually two tops - Vestre Trakta, the main summit, and Østre Trakta the lower summit. The deep chasm between the two is called Djevelskar (The Devil's Gap). Fallen slabs have formed a bridge up to 8m thick across part of the gap. Base camp is usually set up near the farm at Korsneset at the entrance of Kjernadalen, the steep valley southeast of the peak.
We have included the regular route (Nordvest ryggen) here as, although a relatively non-technical ascent, it is definitely more mountaineering than hillwalking, and is best approached as a serious day out.
