Hybrid face routes, dont moan about the spaced bolts, just man up and deal with it. Fast-drying, good winter venue. Belay bolts have been installed along the cliff top edge, courtesy of Weston Super Mare Council and Mendip Outdoors, making the climbing much more accessible. Full, accurate details in forthcoming definitive GWR guidebook (Summer 2023).
Do not venture onto any climbs to the right of Graveyard Gate (fenced off area), The quarry is a biological SSSI. Climbers are also asked to respect fences and other facilities put in place to protect the general public.
Uphill Village is clearly signposted from Weston-Super-Mare. The solitary hilltop church can be seen from miles around. Access to the quarry is gained via an opening in the massive sea defence wall at the end of Uphill Way. The access lane is shared by Uphill boat yard, and must not be blocked. Adequate car-parking space exists to either side of the sea wall. Cool cafe and also a campsite!
The best climbing faces are available to climbers but access is not permitted to the right of ‘Graveyard Gate’, (with the exclusion of ‘Meet Thy Creator’) to help protect rare plants.
Reason: Nesting Birds
Please do not block the road to the crag - the land is shared with the Uphill boat yard and access may be harmed by inconsiderate parking.
Does anyone know what happened to the topo and listing of the newer bolted routes? DiabloCableGuy - 12/May/23 |
