1754m. The first recorded route in Rum, by wife and daughter of Tom Longstaff. Ascends the W side of Jebel Rum, Jordan. About 2km, much of it very exposed, with rope recommended on at least one pitch. It's an old Bedouin hunting route and a great adventure especially when linked with the descent of Hammad's Route, for the full-day classic traverse of the mountain (might be worth doing Hammad's first as Bedouin routes are easy to get lost on - learn to think like a bedouin thinking like an ibex!

Hamdan Amad, Sylvia Branford, Charmian Longstaff Nov/1952.
