Bowfell summit 902m
Got to Langdale at 2am and got my head down till 6am. Woke up, had breakfast and got onto the track for 0730. Left the car at Stickle Ghyll car park and headed down the lane towards Stool end Farm. The weather at the start was foggy, but found out that I was in a cloud inversion. Past stool end farm is The Band, and I took this to get myself up to Bowfell. Climbing the Band, I got above the inversion and saw a beautiful view all round Langdale. I took the climber’s Traverse and walked up the centre of The Great Slab to the Summit. All day, I had 360 degree views. From the summit I headed off to Esk pike. From Esk pike I made my way down to Esk Hause, passing some beautiful views of the Scafells. After a quick break and a lovely chat with a gentleman who was teaching his son how to navigate, I made my way to Angle Tarn for lunch. After lunch, I got myself up to Rossett Pike. After Rossett Pike, I made my way down to Mickleden valley and a long walk back to the car park. Once I got back to the car park,I changed my daysack for my backpack and headed up to where I would be wildcamping for the night on Pike Howe. By now it was really hot and was thankful for reaching my camping site. I set up my Lanshan 2 and got into routine. I had a lovely pasta meal from a thru hikers book and custard and fruit for dessert. The route was from Black crag on YouTube, season 4.
