Power station at Smith Rock report that a power company, Cogentrix (AKA Grizzly Power) have announced a plan to build a gas-fired power plant next door to Smith Rock in Oregon, USA.

Smith Rock is one of the USA's top rock venues and a must on any Brit climber's road trip tick list. The facility would be the largest power plant of its type in the Northwest, spewing out a 1,500-foot plume of white smoke from its 200-foot smokestacks. That's 700,000 tons of air pollutants each year.
