Last October we reported that Mayan Smith-Gobat and Libby Sauter had broken the female El Capitan speed record by climbing the 2,900ft route The Nose in 5 hours and 2 minutes (UKC News Report). Not satisfied with their time, the pair then managed to beat this record by 19 minutes a few days later.
In this video from Adidas Outdoor, we get a glimpse into the initial "warm-up" record-breaking climb, as well as their subsequent attempt which saw them beating their own record with a time of 4 hours and 43 minutes.
With potential for big falls and limited time to make gear placements, Libby and Mayan talk about working effectively as a team to minimise risk and acheive their goal of beating their own record.
