Fight or flight, 9b, by Sachi Amma

© Eddie Gianelloni

Sachi Amma has made the fourth ascent of Chris Sharma's Fight or flight, 9b, at Oliana, Spain.

On fb he writes:

I send Fight or Flight 9B today!!!
It happened... I spend 4 trips for this route, more than 30 tries.
I was changed a lot through trying this route. This route makes me bigger as a human. Thanks a lot for everyone who cheers me. And Thank you very much to myself.

Since Chris made the first ascent in May 2011, the route has been repeated by Adam Ondra, Jakob Schubert and now Sachi Amma, making it the most repeated 9b in the world. Not that there are so many repeated 9b's to chose from:

Golpe de estado, Chilam Balam and First round, first minute have all been repeated by Adam Ondra, and Ali Hulk, sit start, extension has been repeated by Magnus Midtbø. I think that's it.
Then, of course, Chris Sharma has repeated La Dura Dura, but that's 9b+.

Here is Adam's repeat of Fight or flight:

Exciting news. This means number of 9b climbers in the world has doubled in just over a month. Great footage of Ondra repeating the route. I really like it when the footage is just continuous, instead of being chopped around with different angles and sped up because they think we don't have the attention span to watch a climber shaking out for 60 seconds. Another repeated 9b to add to the list is Chaxi Raxi, also at Oliana. Ondra climbed it first and Sharma repeated it.

Sharma hasn't redpointed Chaxi Raxi. He's climbed Chaxi, the 9a+ variation that avoids the 8B+ boulder problem start via easier climbing that traverses into the upper 9a/+ section.
