Good effort but is a three pitch climb that takes screws and doesn't appear to be vertical really grade VIII? Maybe worthwhile to do Labyrinth direct on the Dubh Loch in thin conditions and then see whether this is one full grade harder.

Interesting comment but the grade is because it is also a tricky mixed climb above here which you can't see in the photo, as well as the ice. I'm doubtful about the VIII myself and don't claim to be any sort of expert, but it felt harder than VII's I've done - I hope it gets climbed more so a more accurate opinion can be reached. I agree that if it was just ice it would be fairly serious VI 6. Oh and don't assume those screws are any good - all except one were only half in, you wouldn't want to fall on them.

Actually I've just found a photo which gives an idea of the steepness or otherwise of the cliff.

Dave MacLeod also graded his recent climb Yo Bro VIII. Anyway, well done and congratulations for the first ascent. I can't climb at that level so others will have to try to repeat it!

After thinking some more about it I've changed it to VII from VII/VIII.

Whatever the grade...it's a cracking looking line that would get down from the depth of Scotland.
