Amazing. How old are these items? I'm guessing early 20th century, from the design of the axe?

Then book is the diary of "The Bergers" Climbing club, which ran from approximately 1930 - 1945 (ish). I am trying to read the diary in preparation for an article, but its written I very old style English, mainly in pencil and most club meetings are adjourned after the secretary is incapable of writing due to consumption of beer.
The axe is actually not part of my grandfather’s collection; I found it in a second hand shop near Aviemore for £45!

The first meeting was held in the Ayton Fish shop a short traverse from the Filesheds Inn 3rd May 1938.
