New route at Ivy Scar. Comments welcome.

Don't know the crag but, from what I can see here, I'd be asking if the traverse is exceptionally good or logical or facilitates an easier way up the face. If yes to any/all of these then good, otherwise I can't really see the point.

If it makes a particularly good variation then it could be described as such.

What grade is the "new route"? If it offers a significantly easier, or harder, line, then maybe it is worthwhile. For example, at Logie Head, in Moray, there are 2 routes side by side at S & HS, but a V Diff route is recorded in the guidebook that starts up one & finishes up the other. See http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/c.php?i=31355, a combo of Bladder Wrack & Sea Urchin.

I'm intrigued as to how this came to be on here as I submitted this as a new route a couple of years ago. Quite funny really as I re-visited the venue last weekend without my guidebook so was just searching for the routes that we did and came across this. The picture is even mine!!!
For those that haven't done it, it does make a very interesting variation.
