I climbed a lot with Dave Lester in N Wales in the 70s. He was known as Van Dave then - due to living in his white Simca van. Last I heard of him was sometime in the mid 80s when he took up a teaching job in the Lakes. I'd really like to know what has become of him... have you any idea? Thanks, Jon

Iv'e not seen Dave since about 1966 we climbed together for about five years prior to that. Your mention about him taking a job in the lakes interests me as I have been living in South lakes myself for the past 35 years or so. I shall make some enquiries and if I find him I will let you Know. I would love to see him again myself.Cheers Malc.

I think he moved to the northern Lakes - Cockermouth, maybe. But that was a long time ago, mid 80s-ish. Teaching maths I believe. Please do let me know....

Dave Lester did teach at West Cumbria College in Workington in 1985-ish. He began climbing with him.

Many thanks for your useful comment re. Dave, This will increase my chances of tracking him down now that I know exactly where he was in or around 1985. Malc.
