a very impressive ascent of a cutting edge route, no doubt about that. but as a photo ... its an uninspiringly composed bum shot the likes of which there are thousands taken every weekend! no disrespect meant, just confused at the '5' rating

For me, these pictures help as Im sitting at my desk day dreaming about what I will be climbing the weekend. Not all of us are keen photographers. If a single photo makes me want to climb then i say its worth a 5.

Gache, thats a knobbish thing to say, its 5 star because its a great photo. People like it. It may not be comp[osed in thirds but i wish i had taken it. Probably so do the thousands that takephotos like it every week.

Good point, well made Seocan. Not everyone is a professional photographer and I'd be pretty chuffed if I took that photo and it deserves a 5 for capturing someone on a great route and putting in a great effort composed or not!

Superb. Conveys everything.

gache, the 5* rating is for the emotion that photo evokes - it literally made my scrote tighten. It makes me want to be there. A climbing pic that makes me want to be on the route is worth a thousand pretty pictures.
