Wind scoured, melt-freeze boilerplate snow on the Cairngorm plateau: a blinding mirror reflecting the last sun we saw in 2010 (within half an hour, the clouds rolled in and reduced visibility to about 100m).
'Firnspiegel' is the German term for this kind of (usually spring) snow condition: it makes for challenging ski-ing to say the least! ;-)
Ben Macdui is the most distant peak on the far right.
