Never mind if it didn't work properly, it looks dead cool - and that's what matters!

My next bike was in about 1958/9 a BSA Gold star do not know its birth Date . Was told first alloy engine? Final crash... hit flock of sheep in Langdale doing 70mph.. Gave up bikes.

Ian , I remember you having a very unreliable BSA Gold Star when you were an apprentice at Birmetals. It was ,however, sound enough to be stolen from outside the works!!

Too true David - you have a good memory. I think it was found five or ten miles away when it ran out of petrol - I could only afford a half gallon at a time in those days !

Did my 1st climb with Bob at Cwm Silyn about 1961. Then spend a few weekends coming up to N.Wales on the back of a AJS 600 Riden by Tom O'Shaunessy who was 1 of the old Og Cott crowd. All Members of the old BAI.
Harry Richards picked me up once in his old Rover 90 and I climbed with him for years. We used to do Lion as a warm up route. Always had a Capstan full strength on the go. Bob lives in Falmouth by the old swan pool and we still chat now and again.
Small world Jacqui and Pod live just 100 yds from me at Cwm -Y -Glo

The bike was a 350 cc BSA Gold Star in trials trim which was unreliable in just about every department - particularly the lights which never worked properly.
I remember Paul Nunn, who at that time owned a super 650 cc BSA Gold Flash, describing it as a "really ragged Gold Star"
