Really nice photo. Could it be the Grenzgletscher though, not the Gorner? Seems like it's too high, too steep and too snowy for the Gornergletscher. Five stars, whatever!

Yup - you're right.

Nice, but the snow/ice feature on the right of shot really bugs me. It distracts from the sweeping foreground and breaks the distant skyline. Shame!

I remember descending the Grenz gletscher in the afternoon - not a very nice place to be at that time of day, is it, with all those crevasses?

We crossed it twice in the afternoon. Both were fairly stressful and scary experiences. You have to be either stupid or very psyched to be on that glacier so late.
