Another eBay-derived picture - the Glacier de Bois is right down to the valley. Interestingly, the Rocher des Mottets are still ice free - my guess is that these must have been glaciated in the coldest point of the little ice age, about 1600 or so. In 1600 it was about 0.2 C colder than 1800. For comparison, we are currently about 1 C warmer than 1800 at the moment (source http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c1/2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png)
