What's the story with the poetry?

some poet decided his project would be to get some woman to chisel a load of his poetry into rocks though out the pennines.... nice eh?

It seams that the vandals feel that its ok to graffiti on/around crags as long as they are quarries. I've tried to be restrained with my oppinions of the stanza stones project as I'm sure that my oppinion will not be shared by all, but I really do feel that this is criminal and I'm genuinely shocked that it was allowed to go ahead.
Lets hope that with a bit more traffic the chipping will eroded so much that the text will be totally obscured.

The Stanza Stones are written by the poet Simon Armitage, and carved by Pip Hall. There are 6 stones forming a 47-mile trail between Armitage's home town of Marsden and Ilkley. 3 of the stones are in situ, and the other 3 were carved elsewhere and then deposited. There is also a 7th at an "unknown location".
