Top roping was common in those days as equipment none existent. We had a rope [Hemp], two slings and crabs. Nuts hadn't yet been invented. Eric wore nailed boots, I bendy walking boots. We taught ourselves to climb ...it was a long apprenticeship, but one that provided valuable skills still useful today.
