Thanks to peteJ23 for the grades and names of these routes. Good access to stable flat land at top of quarry for setting tree anchors. Entire face is slightly beyond vertical, so all climbs have a small overhang.

sssi?
As far as I can tell Eccle Riggs Bank Quarry is a RIGS (Regionally Important Geological and Geomorphological Sites) rather than an SSSI (see http://goo.gl/uXWZlV). As Wikipedia notes "They [RIGS] do not have the statutory management protection enjoyed by Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs)". Please correct me if I'm wrong, I wouldn't want to be climbing on anything protected!

Interesting about the RIGS I didn't know that. You may be right, in old frcc guides its always been noted as having SSSI...who knows things may have changed.

I emailed Natural England this morning, who confirmed that this is not an SSSI, so the decision whether to allow climbing or not lies with the landowner. I'll check the land registry, and see who owns it.
