Hi Boje. I was Martin's climbing buddy for many years. We were walking along Striding Edge on Helvellyn in perfect conditions on 20 April. I was in front so didn't see what happened, but all I know is that he was to be seen 100m down the valley side (not the tarn side). When myself and other walkers reached him it was obvious he had died. I can't imagine how such an experienced man could have lost his footing but that is all I know. You can understand the pain and grief that is felt by his family and all who knew him. His funeral is on Thursday 7 May at 3pm at Rotherham crematorium. Eric S
