which way does he go - left,right or my choice would be a ski either side of the ridge

Both left and right are possible. Going left via the Gussfeld Couloir is probably the favoured descent but is less commonly in condition as it is slightly steeper than going right. When we were there we saw bare glacial ice showing through on the left so decided to go right, which goes at around 50 degrees. Sadly the ridge soon turns to rock so hopping either side isn't possible
