John and I on the summit of Store Trolltind, Romsdal, Norway (via the easy ordinary route), 44 years after our epic on the much harder and very dangerous Fiva Route. Effectively completing the climb.

Nice evocative picture Gordon!
So it is not entirely true to say that there are old climbers and bold climbers, but no old, bold climbers. Are you identical twins?

Yes, identical twins. 7 minutes apart, John the elder. We weren't particularly bold on Store Trolltind in 2013. But I still found it hard because of a serious eyesight problem (macular pucker) - gave me vertigo on the descent. So I decided that would be my last serious mountain climb. Though still I
hillwalk nearly as much as ever.

44 years to complete a climb - good grief.
Great picture, great place

Wow - what a photo! It looks a bit steep in the background. So much experience written in those faces. If it's taken 44 years to complete it, well who cares? You're both still around and in pretty good shape by the looks of it. That's what matters most.

44 years to do a route - pah!
I'm more than twice as fast, took 20 years to climb a mountain and then spent less than a minute on the summit.
