My youngest son and I were descending the Gribin Ridge having climbed the Cneifion Arete on a dreadful day which proved the truth in Ashton's judgement that "in wet conditions...the increase in difficulty soon becomes unacceptable if these are combined with strong winds..." when suddenly the clouds parted and Tryfan loomed so close it almost seemed possible to stride across to it.
