Really nice shot, shame we can't vote on this. (Is it all naturally lit or was there some 'assistance'?)

I like this, it reminds me of Ansel Adams painting with long exposures and artificial light (something which seems to have been forgotten about his art). How long was the exposure, or is it a series of multiple exposures. Forgive me, I should also say, a great composition - but in that light, I suspect it's not full-frame...if it is, wells done

Hi, thanks for the comments! It's been lit up through artificial light using a range of headtorches. The camera used was an Canon EOS 6D with an 24 - 105mm lens which is a full frame camera. I then used an exposure time on the Canon bulb setting for 20 seconds then digitally darkened ever so slightly.

Adams was known for his wonderful landscapes, and to photographic purists for his technical 'zone system', all of which masked his true message...before you even take the camera out of the bag, you must know what you want to capture - the art of 'visualisation', if you do not see it, you cannot find it. This feels intuitively different from Bresson's decisive moment, which at first glance seems to have more in common with mountain and climbing photography. Wrong, they both must work together - the decisive moment is not the peak of the action, it is the peak of your visualistation. Great photograph can lie in 'found things' but only if we bring a true artistic eye to it, and an expression of the human experience - what does it feel like, how do we cognitively construct it, and how does it change us.
I hope the link below works, it should lead to a very different Adams' image, one as carefully constructed from artificial light as this...it's a joy to see someone pushing their vision in this way
