Follow tarmac bridleway uphill until a footpath sign Clappersgate branches off left on a steep right hand bend. After crossing a small footbridge a short distance along continue along the wall line (keep this on your left the whole time) on a vague path instead of the main footpath. After a short steep climb you’ll reach a T-Junction with another drystone wall. There’s a small gap where these meet, go through this and continue downhill with the now barbed wire fence on your left. Follow this all the way down until meeting another wall, carefully climb the fence and head down and left into the wood and the buttresses will appear on your left.
