Note the hemp waistline, cable-laid No 4 Viking nylon rope, Tarbuck knot, Black's Masters climbing boots, and no runners (though John appears to be carrying one hex nut, which he hasn't used). I think this must have been our first visit to Curbar, and one of our first to grit.
