Looks tantalisingly close to the midi station so tempting to go for it with only 2 hours of daylight left, but that would definately have left us climbing in the darkness, and the bivvy ledge is a pretty stunning place to spend a night.

It makes it look very easy, are looks deceptive? How steep is the snow arete at the top? Does it feel exposed?

does doesn't it. that's partly why so tempting go for it with little time left. at top of snow arete around 50-55 degs. we went left round the rognon the last pitch of which is around 80 degs.

so yes a bit deceptive, does feel fairly exposed. there's some good pictures of the ridge from the side searching with google images which give a real feel of the scale and steepness.
