Have been pondering the possible location of the missing hold mentioned on Gary's site. Did the obvious slot by his left hand once house some sort of flake that provided the painful but very useful fingerjug that I dimly recall thereabouts? I can't see it anywhere else.

Yes there was a big loose block in the hole that came out when the crag was renovated in 2007. Probably made it slightly harder but not by much.

Ah - thanks very much. I think its absence would have made quite a difference in my case; I recall a somewhat all-out grab to get it - ("slap" or "deadpoint" implies a level of control that doesn't ring any bells) - followed by as much of a shakeout as I could manage before the next bit.
