Just shy of 70 degree North, Joakim is getting close to the top of "Golden Shower", 7b+, Kvaløya.
All routes at Gullknausen start from a ledge system traversing the mountain some 200-300 meter above the ocean. At the point Joakim has reached in this photo he has a good deal of air under his feet and behind his back only a few barren island -- then nothing but the North Atlantic.
Mårten Blixt has got the lowdown on Gullknausen, and Kvaløya in general, on his website www.blixt.no/KvaloyaArchives/

Stunning location !

Awesome pic, just a shame the pre-placed gear above him is visible. Sort of takes away from the wilderness of the scene.

Awesome route name! And a damn fine pic. Just a shame the horizon is blatantly on the wonk.

This is an amazing place, we where fortunate to be up at Hollenderan during the summer. Unforunately missed out on this gem!!! Great picture by the way.

Hollendaren is where it's at. Gullknausen is mostly sport. Quite a few people think it is super-good there. If you ask locals they recommend Hollendaren and Gullknausen. I thought Hollendaren was world-class, miles better than any crag in Lofoten, but thought Gullknausen was so-so, too much laybacking for my taste.
