Climbers: Luca Signorelli Date taken: 12th July 2006
High above Colle delle Coupe, at 2335m one of the lowest and easiest passages from the Susa valley (on the L, covered by clouds) and the high ViĆ¹ valley. This col is known to have been used since the Middle Ages. The hike if done from the bottom of the Susa valley involves 2000m of height gain, but it's possible to "cheat" driving to 1300m through a dirt road used by local farmers.
On the bottom L of the picture are visible the ruins of the small outpost built to guard the col in early XIX century, a testimonial to the recurrent warfare history of this area.
