Been in the hills all my life, but tried rockclimbing 13 years ago and can't get it out of system. Too late to be good at it, so middling muddling club climber. Now trying to get more into winter climbing but climate conspires against me, which is a shame as my gear is much better than when I was mere shivery wet mountain walker.Location

Best Climbing Experience
Some thuggish HS rising crack in Llanberis pass, no delicacy it just went up and up. Felt like a knackered god at top.

I'm a gear freak and follow postings on crampons axes shunts etc, my house is full of the stuff, (mostly secondhand as v poor) I buy improved climbing items partly to try and compensate for my weak climbing style and partly cause as a safety engineer such things fascinate me.
