Off Piste enthusiast. Over the years among many things, I have worked as a ski instructor, climbing instructor and ski patroller/pisteur, 7 years pro patrol. I run courses on avalanche and rescue. 38 years as a medic and rescuing folk from mountains as well, but that's all in the past. SMC member and climbed all over the place. Getting into sport climbing now and filling in the UKC logbook from diaries from back in the day when trad was all there was and bouldering wasn't a sport. I have written a book that has sold quite well "Between a Loch and a Hard Place". Tales of a Highland childhood, Glencoe climbing and Mountain Rescue.

Best Climbing Experience
Soling many winter classics in a day. And doing Shibboleth in the early days when folk shook your hand in the Kingy after, and then you got pished to celebrate.

Favourite Climbing-Related Discussion Topic
Least favourite is ethics or sport vs trad. Its just rock. Most enjoyable is from folk new to the sport enjoying the old classics.

Moderator for 5 crags, checking missing climbs added to the logbooks: Creag Mhor (Loch Linnhe), Dallen's Rock, Creagmhor, Dallens Boulder, Charnuis Boulders

Interests Outside Climbing
Apart from back country skiing, Salmon and Trout fly fishing and riding my mountain bike on the local trails.

Anything Else We Should Know
I used to do MR (38 years) but can't be arsed with that now but good luck to those who do as its not easy - so don't ask unless it's about climbing, off piste skiing & Freeride or avalanches and off piste safety as I am still into that big time.
