Returning after a 20 year gap; it's been lovely to discover that people and places are pretty much as I remember them. Climbers are still climbers and the cliff still doesn't give a damn if I get up it or not. Looking back, I wished I'd never left. But hey ho, I've got a second chance... And I get to share it all with my wife. Hopefully, my body will stay mobile enough to be able to lead Severe at 70.

Best Climbing Experience
Introducing my wife to climbing has been a JOY, particularly discovering all the new routes put up in the Duddon Valley, gneiss and north west Scotland. There's enough here to do us for the rest of our lives. Every trip feels like a honeymoon. Fond memories from the 1990s: Cioch Nose at Applecross with Lloyd, with whom I ticked off so many 'classic rock' routes. Diagonal, Kipling Groove and Golden Slipper with Dusty K. were all glorious adventures of 'shall we give it a go... and just see....?' On a personal note, on-sighting The Padder at Eastby remains my best lead, though given the right route [always a bold slab] I've got back to E1 which is nice. I still hate limestone and get still get scared on sea cliffs.
