I love all types of climbing. Probably still an alpinist at heart, but currently enjoying a middle aged rock resurgence in the fear that I might soon grow too old and weak to do all those routes I never got around to doing in my youth.....and increasingly into adventurous rock destinations.

Location
Scotland

Best Climbing Experience
Watching the sunset at the end of a hard day's climbing on Mingulay.
Hands full of warm Reiff sandstone.
Grasping the jug on the lip of Burning Desire.
Soloing multiple classic V's in a weekend on Ben Nevis when I was young and foolish.
Sitting on the summit of Jebel Rum in the cool of the evening watching the swallows circling on the updraughts.
Alone at midnight on the windless summit of Mont Blanc after a wonderful solo of the Innominata Ridge.
Never, ever having to go near the Eiger again.

Favourite Climbing-Related Discussion Topic
Arguing against bolts being where they shouldn't be.
Pointing out to the ignorant that Gogarth is not quite as good as they make out.

Anything that brings back great memories or inspires future trips.

I have a sea kayak. It is very beautiful and I must get out in it more.
