In my spare time I like to chill out and watch a movie or two, do some reading or when I really push the boat out I may do a spot painting or drawing (not as much I should though), in my youth I actually went art school and completed a foundation course but didn't take the subject any further (cue the faint and mournful sound of distant violins). I have been climbing since June 2005, I also do a bit hill walking every now and again. I like to indulge in a bit fitness training and am a member of a local gym. I was studying with Open University but have taken a break from that this year as I have wanted to take advantage of my circumstances and do some traveling, including a recent trek to Everest base camp.
I also try silly stuff like trying to build my own PC and dabbling in a spot Excel programming - guess I've got to much spare time on my hands. The PC actually worked (after several attempts), which was a pleasant surprise.
The books I tend to read are sci-fi fantasy stuff or science type things, although I'm currently reading bio' about Mallory & Irvine's ill fated 1924 expedition to Everest. Scared myself by reading Felicity Lawrence's Not On The Label detailing what really goes into the food that ends up on your plate. After the first chapter considered going veggie, but alas chapter two was entitled salads…
Music wise I like just about anything especially rock & metal & enjoy live music when I get the chance. I've got a few tattoo's, one on my back & some on my arms... and up to about year ago I had a ponytail which has since been loped off, had it for about 15 years and felt like a change, not sure if it was for the best!
Best Climbing Experience
Recent hut to hut tour in the Austrian Ötztal Alps - top moment standing on top the Weißkugel. Fantastic summit.
Moderator for 1 crag, checking missing climbs added to the logbooks: Hintereisspitze
Interests Outside Climbing
I'm intersted in a great many things... I like anything fitness based (I'm a fan of the art of suffering approach to fitness). Dabbling in the world of art, mainly painting (usually something finds its way onto the carpet) and drawing. Music, most things from movie soundtracks and classical all the way through to Scandanavian black metal.
About My Photography
I'll take a picture of anything... although I am better at landscape & object orientated stuff as opposed to people pictures.
