Recently turned 50, can be argumentative and a little subversive, but generally chilled and like to think I'm one of the good guys.

Have taken about 15 months out from UKC. I plan to dip in occasionally now and be a little less argumentative.

Not climbing as much as I used to, but still loving getting out in the mountains, long easy routes on rock and pushing things a bit harder on water ice. Loving my running and never been as fit as a consequence.

Recently made a winter ascent of Toubkal in Morocco with my wife, first winter mountaineering in many years. Really enjoyed it and importantly so did she, so keen to do some of the big easy peaks with her that were less of a priority when I was younger.

Professional life is all about planning, regeneration and the trials and tribulations of life in local government.

Best Climbing Experience
Old Man Hoy was great. Any route which has challenged me and I have overcome the challenge. My first Scottish winter route, Tower Ridge. Any time I am on Skye, even if the weather is poor. Hero worship by Japanese tourists in the Alps (I think they were confused). Just being there in Patagonia.
