I've nearly always been self employed, usually with computers. Tried to retire, but got sucked back in due to circumstances beyond my control (which isn't an excuse I'm comfortable with.) Family commitments have usually curtailed serious climbing ambitions but I still get away, I'm still doing it.

Location
South Wales

Best Climbing Experience
Cemetery Gates at 17, with four pieces of gear. Every route I've ever done in the Alps. Backpacking with my kids. Trips to the Highlands, especially solo on a bike. Routes with my kids. The next climbing trip.

Favourite Climbing-Related Discussion Topic
Why climbing is only on-site trad, everthing else is something else; why formal instruction is usually counter-productive; and why aren't most students better climbers than we were?

Interests Outside Climbing
Family - now including grandchildren, which is as good as they say. Sailing in the Bristol Channel; skiing and (not enough) ski touring; Mountain biking; folk music (sad but true); politics. Work sometimes.

About My Photography
Was there ever a better camera than the Konica C35?, or better film than 100 ASA Kodachrome?

Anything Else We Should Know
Most people are not as clever as they think they are. This is particularly true of computer people.
