Very active between 1966 and 1974, with climbers from Wolverhampton, Smiler Cuthberston, Gordon Caine etc, our gheto in NantPeris included Eric Jones, Pete Minks, Cliff Philips, Al Rouse, Leo Dickenson, and Brian Moyneaux. In '71, I moved to Llanberis to try and become a professional climber, but it didn't work out. Since then, I have been going backward! Although I never stopped climbing, rugby became the number-one sport for many years, although I would always venture out with Smiler. I picked up rock climbing again about 10 years ago with David Rutley, and when I hit 70 I decided to challenge myself with the Cuillin Ridge Traverse - the rest they say is history, I have now fallen back in love with the sport and can't stop. Regularly spend big days in the mountains, with John Cartmell, doing Grade 3 scrambles - which are nothing like scrambling!

9 x TD sup - ED in 3 weeks with Smiler in the summer of 1971, included Matterhorn N. Face, Dru W. Face and taking two Japenese climbers up the Walker Spur.
