First Ascent of Black Seal - Bermuda

On 29th March 2010, American climber John Langston established Bermuda's hardest rock climb at the Pump Room crag on St David's, with his ascent of Black Seal 5.13b / Fr8a.

John, 31, grew up in Wyoming and has been climbing for 14 years. Since August 2009 he has been running the outdoor climbing wall at the Olympic Club in Bermuda's capital, Hamilton.

Black Seal follows a fantastic, eye-catching line across an 8m long horizontal roof with an overhanging wall above. The route is short, but packs a lot of hard climbing into its length.
