Berghaus has teamed up with Nevisport for a special event in Fort William next week, presenting 'An Evening with Ed Jackson'. Taking place in the retailer's High Street store on Tuesday 31 January, the evening will be a chance to hear Ed's story of life as an adventurer who has a serious spinal cord injury. Guests will also be able find out more about the latest Berghaus product range, including award winning technical kit from the brand's new Extrem collection.

Ed Jackson is a former professional rugby union player who, in 2017, fractured multiple vertebrae in his spine. Already a keen outdoor enthusiast, Ed has since confounded the experts and found a way to return to the mountains. Berghaus has made adaptations to high performance apparel and equipment that have allowed him to attempt ever more challenging terrain, first in the UK and Alps, and then the Himalaya.

Last year, Ed reached a new record height of 6,800m for a climber with a spinal cord injury, on the Himalayan peak Himlung Himal. During the trip, circumstances led to him and his team spending a night without shelter at 6,000m. No less dramatic was Ed's '12 Peaks of Christmas' challenge in December 2021, when he and fellow climber Ross Stirling climbed 12 of the UK's highest peaks over six days while carrying a Christmas tree. Ed will tell this and other stories during the event in Fort William.

Ed Jackson uses his adventures to raise money for the charity that he founded, the Millimetres 2 Mountains Foundation, focusing on its 'Together Outdoors' programme that helps people who have experienced physical or mental trauma to get active in the outdoors. Berghaus and Nevisport will provide food, drinks, goody bags and a competition at the event next week, which will start at 6:30pm. Tickets cost £5 each and all of the fees will be donated to Millimetres 2 Mountains.

Berghaus has a long term mission to help make the outdoors more accessible and welcoming for everyone. To achieve that, the company works with Ed Jackson and other ambassadors, organisations and retail partners on a wide range of projects and initiatives. Brand ambassadors include Mick Fowler, Leo Houlding, Anna Taylor, Zahrah Mahmood, Rhiane Fatinikun, Waldo Etherington, Mat Wright, Adam Raja, and Sir Chris Bonington. Berghaus also continues to support Millimetres 2 Mountains and is a founding member of international non-profit organisation The It's Great Out There Coalition (#itsgreatoutthere), which helps introduce new people to the outdoors, from every background.

Tickets for An Evening with Ed Jackson are available now.
