The Westway Climbing centre has the unique opportunity to be able to advertise multiple positions in our Climbing team to those looking to make a career in the industry – Climbing Activities and Wellbeing co-ordinator, Climbing instructors/coaches, Climbing Duty Manager and Trainee Setter post.

The Westway, otherwise known as the best and biggest lead climbing centre in London, is looking for talented individuals to join us in our Operations, Coaching and Setting teams. Positions range from full time to casual, from LLW up to £38.5k per annum, depending on role and experience. Job purposes are highlighted below. Not only are you joining the Westway team but you will also be working with one of the UKs largest employer of climbing professionals (Everyone Active) and all the advancement opportunities that go with it.

Climbing Activities and Wellbeing co-ordinator (Full Time. Competitive salary)

You will be responsible for one of the largest & most successful climbing programmes in the UK.

Your role will be to ensure the general day to day management and organization of the climbing programme, managing customer's pathway and bookings, and ensuring that all coaches are correctly allocated to deliver the programme.

You will work closely with the Climbing Coach Manager and the Climbing Front of House Manager to ensure the social media and marketing programme is executed; and that all customers are communicated with effectively.

Climbing instructors, coaches, senior coaches and master coaches

 (£14.50ph, £16.50ph, £18.50ph and £20.50ph respectively+ additional bonus for private requests)

The centre has a coaching team like no other. We have a tiered system of instructor ranks that reward experience and expertise. As one of the largest & most successful climbing programmes in the UK you will have the opportunity to grow as an indoor Climbing instructor like nowhere else.  

To provide instruction in all aspects of the Climbing Programme. As a Climbing instructor/coach, you will be responsible for teaching climbing and motivating customers in developing their climbing skills. You will help people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels and will be responsible for promoting a safe climbing environment for experienced and novice climbers alike.

Climbing Duty Manager (32 hours available per week @ £12.72ph)

You will be responsible for supervising all aspects of health and safety to ensure the safety of customers, climbing coaches, route setters and contractors. You will ensure the climbing walls are well used and maintained to a high standard by offering safe, exciting and challenging routes to climb and provide expert advice to climbing customers on all aspects of climbing. Climbing Duty Managers are a key reference point for staff and customers while on shift and are knowledgeable in all operations within the climbing centre.

Trainee Setter (28 hours per week. £11.95ph)

This role is offered as a direct access to the Route setting pathway for Westway and Everyone Active. With a centre that caters from grassroots to national level competitions the scope for learning is extensive. The role initially consists of training and setting operations facilitation and one day setting. This is an entry level role that involves all aspects of route setting operations between Westway.
